Friday High as a Pie Day

Oh Dear Lord was it a week.
The Alex of Wednesday who didn't taste the wine at Harris Teeter is now ready to throw it back like an alcoholic getting out of rehab. Because winners never quit, and quitters never win! (Aside: I just typed 'winers' - close enough, eh Pavo?)
My week could read like a bad version of "The Twelve Days of Christmas"
At my first week of schoo-oool my district gave to me:
12 screaming children
11 parents snarking
10 objectives posted
9 rules broken (by me)
8 meetings daily
7 empty bottles (wine)
6 nervous breakdowns
5 missed deadlines!
4 write ups
3 hours of sleep
2 days off
and
a frazzled girl with stress warts on her knees!

I had an observation today. It was only 20 minutes - but I was thrown for a loop. An observation! I've been there 9 days! I can't imagine that anybody in their right mind thinks that I know what I'm doing. Not to mention that I had to stop and get my lesson plans in order so that I was within regs. With a bunch of squirmy first graders impatiently waiting. *sigh* I'll be looking for the BEST! TEACHER! EVER! bonus in my next paycheck. Umm Hmmm. Why, just the other day, I was telling dh how much I suck as a teacher right now because I am trying to do it someone else's way (my quitful predecessor), in somebody else's classroom, instead of what I know. Do ya think I could have some time to settle in, please?

For fuck's sake. At least it's Friday.

Veni, vidi, vici has become:

Vino, Vino, Vino.

Making me laugh: Catching an old man unload his backpack full of old Budweiser bottles into the trashcan downtown. Just standin' there taking his sweet time, like he didn't have a care in the world...

Next week, just go to work already drunk. It'll save time and sanity!

God, I still can't get over the parent thing. Remember when we were kids, and our parents actually sided with the teachers?!

Sorry, I know I sound like a broken record, but jeebus. I hope you have a righteous weekend (and no, not in the biblical sense), you deserve it. :)

Making me laugh: Here the old man would be taking the Budweiser bottles out of the trash for the deposit. Of course, the rest of the trash would remain on the ground, but hey, we're saving the environment.

Have a great weekend, and may you go back to a class of great kids with supportive parents. Failing that, may you win the lottery and not have to go back at all.

An observation after 9 days does seem harsh. In a way I wish they'd observe me this year. Then they can see the zoo they have me working in first hand.:(

Stress warts?!? That's a new and disturbing manifestation of stress I have not yet suffered from- and I hope I never do. My skin looks enough like crap as it is!!
