I went and saw this tonight. It was *FABULOUS* with a capital *FABULOUS*. Y'all have to understand that I adore ABBA. In all their disco-ey bad costumes swedish fabulousness, I worship them. What better way to entertain myself than to watch a musical complete with dream sequences, young boys dancing about in flippers and shorties, and sexual innuendoes all wrapped up in amazing ABBA music? Damnit, there is none! Songs that I had previously sang along to (Yes, at the top of my lungs, and yes out of tune) without cognizance of meaning now caused tears to well up (How sad am I? I swear y'all, watch it and YOU WILL understand. I am promising you this. Might've been the champagne too. Never know about these things. What can I say? I'm kind of emotional. It happens when I get to the States, get to see my parents and eat WONDERFUL food that I want to stuff in my pockets and take back to Japan with me. 'Cept by that time it would be rotten and probably smushed, and I'd end up with food poisoning. Cuisine. It's a lovely thing. Tangent, anybody?) in my eyes. *SIGH* It was amazing. And hilarious. And as you all can probably predict, now I want to try out for musicals. Snort. Can y'all imagine? They'd hand out earplugs with the PLAYBILLS.
It was an amazing afternoon.
Thank you to all who e-mailed and commented re: dh and the cantankerous colonel. Since he and the other guy are working their assess off - did I mention he was there for almost a month with NO TIME OFF and 15+ hour days? - the guy backtracked pretty quickly. What would they do, really? Send him home? Now there's something I'd like to see! We both really appreciate it. Really. Alot. Much.
Not to bore you with the details of my jet related lagginess or anything? But it is 2:00 am. I just pressed play on my "Mamma Mia!" soundtrack for the 2nd time this lovely morning, and I think it is time I bid y'all good night.
Be good, kids.
My wife saw it on Broadway at least four times. I just went once. It was great. We have the soundtack permanently in the cd player in my wife's car and our 3 1/2 year old daughter immediately, upon entry, requests the song, Mamma mia. She likes Dancing Queen a lot too,
Have you heard the ABBA cover band: Bjorn Again?
