AHHH! The wonderful Pixy has found the rest of the post, and here it is!!!
The concert, y'all? Was
absolutely amazing. Even though DH and I sat
HERE. See that gray wall behind our heads? That is the back wall, as in NO PEOPLE behind us. We were on the 3rd level up, against the very back wall. When I looked down at the stage, the Eagles were ants. They were smaller than ants, they were gnats. Microscopic. But THANK BUDDHA for
all the Japanese technology because the acoustics were amazing. As I described it to fellow concert go-ers, "I was singing at the top of my lungs and I couldn't even hear myself! It was fantastic!" Here, let me give you a visual:
Are you squinting? If you squint really hard and let your eyes glaze over, you can just make out...NO YOU CAN'T! You can't see jack shit, and I barely could either. That's all right, I'm more of an aural person,
anyway. Besides, there was this awesome Japanese guy to my left. I
couldn't snap a picture because it was too damn dark in there, not that
I would know because you know those exit lights that ring the top of
large venues and illuminate the entire top row? Shining brightly over my
head, but the sound, the sound was great! The only way I was allowed to
GO to the concert was because DH had talked to some of his Japanese
coworkers who assured him that the concerts were very tame. There would
be no rocking out, no moshing, just a bunch of eager concert go-ers who
wanted to get their money's worth. A nice evening at the (rock) opera,
kind of. And for the most part, they were right. There we sat, two
gaijin faces in a sea of people who either stared at us curiously or
ignored us. Until the music. Then we were forgotten as almost all heads
bobbed simultaneously. Except the kid next to me. I swear this kid was a
professional cheerleader in another life. At the beginning of every song
he would clap excitedly. The cheerleader clap. Hands rigid, thumbs in "I
SAID THUMBS IN, DAMNIT!" tiny little claps. Guitar solos, especially
high notes, or an awesome chorus got the tiny little claps. If he got
especially excited, he would do the little hand roll. You MUST know what
I'm talking about. You make forward circles simultaneously with your
hands next to each other, as if pedaling a bike almost, punctuated with
one hand left up in the air like a little punch. It was crazy. I felt
like I was watching the ESPN cheerleading nationals. And all these
motions, usually off beat. I am very anal about the beat. Either clap on
the beat or don't. But this young gentleman, he don't. And when tired of
the little hand roll or tiny little clap, he would get funkalicious and
add a double or triple clap. Maybe he moonlights for The Gypsy Kings
with the triple clap. I apologize for boring you with these observations
but as I was damn near sitting in his lap due to the lack of size in the
seats (think the Japanese people are smaller? it
will be OVEREMPHASIZED when you try and sit in their stadium seats.
Anything wider than 18 inches will be a tight fit, and no, the arms are
not removable) all night, and he was much closer
than THE EAGLES, so I watched him. And the wig. See that wig in the
picture of the stage? Go ahead, scroll back up there. I'll wait. Why
would you wear a wig to an eagles concert? A blonde one? Most of the
young men here just make the full commitment and bleach their hair. Just
curious. My point is, after watching this guy do his impression of Steve
Martin's "The Jerk", I was desperate for other eye candy. And boy did I
find it. Picture this. A man, probably mid 30's. A bit round, but not
rotund. Buzz cut. Wearing a white WWF t-shirt with the signature black
panda on the back. At first he was a bit shy about it, bopping up to
only the first 2 minutes of a song or such. Understandable with the
concert Nazi's patrolling all 450 aisles of seating every 15 minutes.
And they don't miss a thing, these guys. They escorted a lady out for
holding up her lighter. Moving right along... towards the end of the
concert, the rebel dancer was rocking out. A bizarre combination of the
headbanger's sign and aerobics, this guy was en pointe. He was awesome.
He was almost more exciting than the stage show. After 90 minutes of
watching heads bob in unison as if all controlled by one giant
puppeteer, I was loving this guy.
See? That is me and DH after we spent 45 minutes
totally loving the guy, as evidenced by the showing of ALL of DH's
freakishly white teeth. Of course, I bought the obligatory t-shirts,
went and ate dinner in Roppongi, and went back to the hotel fat and
happy, in the literal sense. Remind me to tell you about how funny I am
on the medication. I could start my own damn tour on the medication. And
now, I sleep.
You know.... this is not a bust, just an observation..... In just about every picture you post of you, you have the same happy smiley face.... but then u have a picture of you laying down and it doesnt even look like you. It's wierd. I don't know why that is even partially important to me, it's just something I noticed.
Wow, great stories. Thank you for sharing about the pregnancy, I don't even know what to say. Just thanks.
What a great summary of your concert experiences. Thanks!
Hey, I am glad you had a great time (a bit jealous, though) Great pics of you and dh. Ditto Rachel's comment. I am gald I finally got to see a pic of you in portriat as opposed to all your other landscape pictures where you are laying down, etc. Don't know why that is important, just noticed it yesterday. BTW another set of great pics. Thanks for visiting my blog.
aww. you two are both so pretty :) i've been reading for like a month now and had a totally different picture in my head of what you looked like. typical me..
