...the weekend.

This weekend came and went with alarming speed, but then again, so did last week.

I think I've damn near lost my mind. Friday? I shh'shed a kid like you would not believe. I was in this kid's face. Eyes bulging, spit flying "SHHHHH-ing" like my paycheck depended on it. Hello, vacation? Will you be joining us soon?

And, they also put me on a horse on Friday. Ahh, the exciting life of a first grade teacher. Lifted me right up there and took my picture, they did. I damn near giddyupped the thing right the hell out of there and kept going.

I know I don't have it that bad, though. One of the 5th grade teachers told me that a girl called her a bitch and the next day one of the kids told her to "Fuck OFF" - I would've emptied the entire bottle of hand sanitizer into that child's mouth.

Sometimes I look at my life and wonder how I got here. Why am I a teacher, for instance? Is that what I am "supposed" to do?

I need a haircut.

Dh needs a job.

One thing about NOT being on a military base anymore is that you see REAL LIFE. Dh and I were driving along the other day, and we saw a homeless man on the corner. His sign said that he was a veteran and that he was hungry. As we searched our pockets, I watched him go to another car. I just expected him to come up to us and take the money. He didn't. He said, "Make sure you pray for me and my wife every night. Her name is ...." Those words are burned in my brain. Sometimes I think that real life sucks.
