To: Bank of America
Re: Name Change
Dear Bank of America,
Change your fucking name. You are NOT, in fact, the Bank of America. Rather, you are a bunch of little banks all operating under the same name pretending to be one big bank. This would be fabulous if you all had access to each other's accounts, but! YOU DON'T! Know how I know? BECAUSE. Dh and I opened our account in Puyallup, with the assurance that "HEY! We're Bank of AMERICA! We're EVERYWHERE!" Your branches are, but apparently, your information is not.
Today? We went to deposit checks? And ran out of deposit slips? We couldn't deposit the money because they only had North Carolina deposit slips. If it is BANK OF AMERICA, they should have BANK OF AMERICA slips. And, they couldn't access our account. Given SSN and all that other fun information. WHAT?! Why not? Oh, did you say because our account is in WASHINGTON? YOU DID? THEN STOP FUCKING CALLING YOURSELVES THE BANK OF AMERICA. YOU ARE THE BANK OF NORTH CAROLINA. AND THE BANK OF WASHINGTON STATE. NOT, NOT, NOT!!!!! the bank of america. The individual banks of individual states that do not cooperate with one another and should therefore not fit under an UMBRELLA title.
Bite me, Bank of America.
TCWH.
Oooh, I have the SAME GRIPE with BofA. When they opened up in Boston, I was so excited because then I could use my CA account there. NO. You can only withdraw money; in order to deposit money, you have to go to the real human tellers which defies the concept of the ATM. And they said that the California system will NEVER be merged with that of the Northeast. I agree, Bank of America needs to rename themselves.
I'll have to show this to Phillis since BofA are the ones paying all our bills.... :)
He'll find this amusing!
OMG, I am so forwarding this post to my hubby. We just went thru this exact BS with them b/c the original account was started in CA, back when my hubby was 16, but now that we've moved to WA, it's like he doesn't exist in their system! He had to open a new account here in order to pay his BofA credit card online (hello, ONLINE!) or through the ATM. It's ridiculous and one of the myriad reasons I've never banked there. More like Bank of Stupid!
Yup. Just another reason why I refer to it as, "Skank of America."
Not to defend them but it isn't quite their fault. Unfortunately the regulations that control banks are archaic and only recently (i.e. within the last 10 years which is unbelievably recent in bank time) allowed a holding company to control banks across state lines. Each state has its own bank regulations, its own bank regulatory agency, and to make it worse, its own inspection criteria. Very tough even in this day in age to have a truly "national" bank... but not because they don't want to.

Ok, here's a public service message... & like someone said above it's not the banks it's the regulations... so go bitch somewhere else...

I'm moving. Can I apply online for an account before I move? How do I open a new checking account in a new state?
If you already have an account with Bank of America, all you need to do is transfer your accounts to your new location. If you are not a Bank of America customer, you can apply online for a new account. Make sure that when you apply for your new account, select the state where you will be moving. Also, apply for your new account at least ten days before you move, so we can ensure you will receive the account opening documents before you move.

I always use my NJ account in PA... maybe the proximity isn't far enough? I hate banks in general though, does that count?
