Now, I don't know if you all are familiar with phonics. Cobwebs? Some? Well, my school system is REALLY hooked on them, and we eat, sleep, and breathe those in the first grade. Part of teaching the kids phonetically is getting them to blend words together. Usually we do about 16 or so words a day, dividing them up by each sound. Some of my kids, bless their hearts (because that means I'm about to talk bad about them, but you can do that in the South) cannot put stuff together at ALL.
Me: SOUND!
Them: WH!
Me: SOUND!
Them: I! (that I's short, just in case you needed to know)
Me: SOUND!
Them: P!
Me: BLEND!
One lonely voice: PIMP!
I don't think I even knew what a pimp was until I was in college. The times, they are a'changin'.
I'm not even going to tell you what they said last week when we were blending "...itch" words.
HAHAHA! I don't know what's funnier, the pimp kid or the fact that it's ok to make fun of people (in the South) if you say "Bless their hearts" first. BAHAHAHA!!!!!
It just occurred to me, upon reading that anecdote, that this world would be incredibly boring if we didn't have kids. That will be my moment of Zen for today.
