I don't usually speak about politics. I find that my opinions are a hell of a lot stronger than I want them to be, and since I am unable to argue (much less engage in an educated debate or discourse) without becoming extremely angry, I refrain. TCWH flaw: I am unable to keep friendships separate from arguments, or saying mean ugly stuff (which is really me just making light of the fact that in a past life, I verbally stripped down and said some extremely hateful things geared to jab at the insecurities. I just don't want to be that person anymore.) . I gain no joy from political debate. I don't hop around in glee if I can make you see it my way. I also didn't log on to give you another opinion, or to even write about myself.
The story made me sick. We apoligize for mistreating prisoners and are vilified in the world press. Those fuckers behead someone and nary a peep.
You want my opinion? Fuck all those people. Bring the troops back home and let them kill each other from now on. Sure, innocent people will get killed, but they won't be OUR innocent people. I'm tired of being the world's policeman and getting spit on in return.
As I see it, we have two choices. 1) Fight the war like it's a real war. No public apologies and do what we have to do to quell the resistance. 2) Leave. Cause there's no such thing as a nice war.
Vapid - good word! That story has me walking around in a daze, without answers. It is a similar effect as the 911 incident. There is no way for us to "deal" with that kind of barbarism. We don't operate on that level. We are a little too nice and a little too naive, but in the long run that is a good thing.
On a lighter note, I love your BLOG's new look! Let's discuss religion next time. Z
H,
I thought about it. Bringing everybody home, I mean. I was all for it, but then I thought that what if they come over and get us, similar to 9/11? I really just think that it's escalating too rapidly. Too big. And then I get all self-centered and think: "How the hell can I CONCIOUSLY and IN GOOD FAITH bring a child in to this world?" because Momma is dying for grandkids...
SC,
I sat in the house, blinds drawn, just wondering what the hell to do for a couple hours. American public has pushed forward, and I guess that's what we are to do, but...well...shit, I don't know!
I LOVE the blogs new look, too! Rachel ROCKS, I could never figure out how to do this by myself.
Yeesh. Religion...we'll have to save that for another day. Another century, maybe. ;)
thank you! i think some people forgot that this is WAR for crying out loud. maybe if the assholes, who showed those pictures in the first place weren't flaunting their right to free speech in order to portray the U.S. as only power hungry and evil, had thought about the consequences of their actions, an innocent American wouldn't have been beheaded.
as for the prisoner "abuse," get over it. there is much going on psychologically for our soldiers. they aren't bad people. they were following the roles they were put into. most of us wouldn't know anything about that b/c we don't have the balls to be over there. thank you for your sacrifice in having a husband who does.
and if i may, i'll remind again, it's a WAR not a dinner pary. what the fuck are we apologizing for?
The Democratic People's Republic of Korea state media said the government was doing its bit for the environment, including updating existing thermal power plants, increasing hydro-power generating capacity, creating more forests and using more organic fertilizers.
The UN Environment Program said the cost of greening of the world's economy would cost as little as a few tenths of global GDP annually over 30 years and would be a driving force for innovation, new businesses and employment.
