Order subscriptions to 6 magazines for 5 years. It works out to like 18 bucks a month. "Okay," I say. Whatever, because the girl on the other end of the phone sounded like she was going to cry and she called me "Alex," all casual and friendly, instead of really telling me that they wanted to sucker me out of 1200 bucks in 18 months and that if she didn't wrap up this call, she'd get fired. What did you have to do in your past life to get a job like that? Obviously, not anything terribly bad, because then obviously there wouldn't be people like me on this earth who will buy whatever you're selling from you even though I know I'll feel like a complete asshole about it for 18 months to come!
Long story short, when they switched our credit cards over, they quit making payments to the company and my account went delinquent while I wasn't paying attention. What was I doing? Oh yeah. Working so that I can make their damn payments. They tracked down Momma who was all like, "No you didn't con her into your damn scheme because she is in JAPAN." and I had to say "Psst, Momma, but they did," but really quietly, because I don't want her to have to admit she has a real live actual dumbass in her family.
I had to pay that account in full this morning. Let's have a moment of silence for my 750.00 and a good laugh at my expense. Don't try and sell me anything. I'll just buy it.
