Dh is certain he's going thru a mid-life crisis. I tried to convince him it was quarter-life, but he said he doesn't want to live to be 136. We'll see what I have to do with that. "What's your evidence?" I drawl, irking him. He is not to be deterred, and cites his most recent purchases:
1 skateboard
1 pair of Vans
1 pair of trucks (there's two...that's a pair, right?)
Being the supportive wife that I am, and jealous that he now goes flying through our house on his new wheels, I want to learn, too. I focus on the ollie. There I am poised on the skateboard, trying to get it up in the air ala Tony Hawk, or somebody. Except Bam Margera. He's not my favorite.
TCWH: What do I do now?
dh (standing in kitchen so he can't possibly see what I'm doing): Pop it.
TCWH: Pop it?
dh: Mmm hmmm. Pop it.
TCWH (in tone of voice that says 'I KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN, WHAT I DO NOT KNOW IS HOW TO MAKE THE F*&$ING SKATEBOARD DO THAT! OTHERWISE I WOULDN'T BE ASKING YOU! But comes out as): Pop IT?
dh: Mmm hmmm. Pop it.
TCWH: Whaddya mean, pop it?
dh: You know. Like it's hot.
TCWH (putting it together, because I'm slow. 3.......2.........1........giving him look of death): ......
dh: walks away, obviously amused with himself.
And...scene.
LOL....In high school all the hot boys were skaters and one summer I thought it would be cool if I learned some of the finer points of skating....skating+hot boys= Me very happy. Until the day I decided that I was cool enough to go down my neighbors very small ramp (3ft to be exact).... you know to impress neighbors hot friends.... well after a busted chin, 5 stitches and a very bruise ego.... I decided to go for the bookworms in the library...SAFER!.... I so need to get my man a skateboard

Just be glad he didn't buy a convertible. Also, I had trouble with the ollie too, so I switched to BMX bikes instead.
Yep I'm old school when it comes to skating, but I can still do tricks that the youngsters can't do because they only know the ollie. I still skate, but it hurts more when I fall.
Haha! I was totally thinking the same thing, in response to reading your husband's words. You are too funny! Good luck on popping that ollie, though I think you should show a pic.
